Rooted in the soil. Reaching for the sky.
Bhumii Trust — meaning "Earth" in Tamil — was born from a deep love for the land, its people, and its ecosystems. Founded by Gnanasuria Bahavan Devaraj, the trust operates the Bhumii Conservation Centre as a hub of ecological knowledge, community learning, and grassroots activism.
Our work spans sustainable agriculture, natural resource conservation, forest stewardship, climate change education, and rural development. We work hand-in-hand with farming communities, tribal villages, and students across Tamil Nadu.
With over 400 blog posts and books published, Bhumii Trust has become a trusted voice for environmental education in regional Tamil literature — making science accessible to every village.
Gnanasuria Bahavan Devaraj has dedicated his life to the intersection of traditional Tamil ecological wisdom and modern environmental science. A prolific writer, educator, and conservationist, he has spent over 15 years working with rural Tamil communities to build ecological awareness and sustainable livelihoods.
"The Earth doesn't belong to us — we belong to the Earth. When we protect the soil, water, and forest, we protect ourselves. Bhumii Trust exists to remind every Tamil farmer, student, and family of this ancient truth."
